Which organic crib mattress did you buy and how do you like it?

FAQs
We’re considering an organic mattress for our baby’s crib and looking at the many options in Yahoo! Shopping. Some are waterproof, some don’t have wool, etc. Looking for a personal recommendation from someone who has purchased one or more organic crib mattresses.

When getting a crib mattress, the first thing you want to look for is firmness. The way to test this is putting your hands on each side of the mattess, and pressing in. Do this on the middle of the mattress where the child will sleep. The reason you want a firm mattress is to prevent SIDS. As much as a baby grows over the first year, you want something very firm. If they are sleeping on something cushiony, their bones will grow that way, leading to major problems later on. The best mattress i think for you would be a foam mattress with an antibacterial covering. This way nothing can get inside of the mattress, and there are also no wool/cotton on the inside of the mattress. The mattress i recommend is the Colgate Classica III(has blue covering). This is a dual zone foam mattress, meaning one side of the mattress if firmer than the other. The reason Colgate did this is so when the child goes into the toddler bed, they can sleep on something a little more cushiony. Not much cushiony to harm the child. But enough to help transition them later on when they are ready to move to the twin/full size bed. Please email me if you would like more information.
