Hey guys, I want to start eating better (like organic and choosing foods that don’t have preservatives). I want to understand labels better so that I can chose the best food. I went to a health food store and was lost! There are so many different types of teas, salt (like Hawaiian sea salt with charcoal in it) and spices. So i decided not to buy anything just yet but to inform myself. I would like to be educated on the different types of teas and spices and the benefits they have on the body. I understand balance and proportions for meal planning…I know you have to eat a lot of greens and fruits. I just want to know more about other things. I’m Italian and trust me I love the food I eat…I just want to expand my knowledge.

Same for the green living. I want to start using greener products that have less harmful effects on the environment and on me :) I’d to make my own perfume/shampoo.

So now the question: do you guys know of a site and/or book that help me with this? I know I can google it but I feel there is a lot of false info on the net and I don’t want to be misinformed. I wanted a trustworthy source. Thanks guys, I will pick a best answer:)

I am a 20 year woman. I ran track all through high school and also ran on a college level. I always had a natural ability, and stayed in good shape, so I never watched what I ate. I’m always eating wings, ice cream, chips, you name it. I’m in very good physical shape, but I know eating like this is going to take its toll on me in the long run. I have been reading into the organic/ natural way of eating and am really interested in incorporating this type of diet. I am also interested in learning more about the household products (soap, shampoo, etc.) that are "organic" and if there is a major difference between them and the leading brands. My husband and I are also trying to have a baby, and I was wondering if a major diet change will negatively affect my baby? Or if the diet I am currently on will do more harm? When answering please keep in mind, I’m not looking to lose weight, just get healthier! Thanks!

I am about 4 months pregnant, and am looking for a website that has recipes for homemade baby products- shampoo, diaper rash cream, moisturizer, that sort of thing. Also want a website that has recipes and tips for making your own baby food and freezing or storing it. I want to do things as naturally and simply as possible with this baby, and not rely so much on store bought products.
We live rural, which makes it harder to get products in the first place.
So, any TIPS,, ADVICE, or WEBSITES with the sort of info I am looking for would be appreciated!

PS- I’m not totally stuck on the organic issue, but want to have this baby enjoy a natural, simple state of life, not overburdened with Huggies and Pampers and other brand name products. Thanks!

Hi there, does anyone know any good skin care (bath lotion, body wash, shampoo) for a baby with sensitive skin? (my 5 week old son seems to get irritated by Johnson & Johnson bath stuff, Aveeno baby seems to be a little better, but I was hoping to find something maybe organic without alcohol and without tons of random ingredients that are likely irritating his skin).
Thanks in advance!
