I’m 13 and going on overweight. Now, my mom and I are going to do Weight Watchers together and train for a 5k. I’ve been trying to avoid processed foods (including frozen meals such as Weight Watchers), but now that I’m doing this with my mom… What should I do? Should I go ahead and start or should I avoid the processed and go for organic?
Also, my goal is 115 (I’m 123 and 5’5"), so how quickly will the diet work? Thanks!

1200 calorie diet?

I am a 28 year old women trying to loose around 40 lbs. I have started on a 1200 calorie/day diet plan. My intake has the following:
Fat: 17.0% (23 gms)
Protein: 22.2% (67 gms)
Carbs: 60.8% (184 gms)
Fibre: 33 gms.
I am not eating any meat or eggs as I am also trying to cut down on my cholestrol. The main staples of my intake are a load of veggies, 2 cups of fatfree skim milk, 1 cup of Tropicana Light and Healthy with extra Calcium and low sugar, 1 cup of fat free plain yoghurt, mung bean sprouts,1/2 cup of boiled lentils, 1/2 cup of cooked medium grained brown rice, 3 oz of Organic Tofu, 2 tsp of Canola oil, 1 packet of Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal with hot water and 6" veggie delite sub on wheat bread (from Subway).
I know this all this sounds like a lot of food, but when I add everything up, it is a little less than 1200 calories. I am not sure about whether my intake of fat, protein and carbs is high. I would appreciate any advice/suggestions from anyone.

I’m a very regimented person, so I eat basically the same thing every day.

I usually don’t eat breakfast but if I have time, I’ll have a granola bar and orange juice.

For lunch I have a sandwich on dark rye bread with organic cheddar cheese, ‘spring mix’ greens, and chive mayo. Also, a hummus and pretzel cup, a baggie of sugar snap peas and bean sprouts, and some fruit like cherries or grapes. And a fiji water or tea to drink.

I usually have pasta or rice for dinner, with a side of veggies and orange juice.

My dad claims i’m very unhealthy because I don’t eat meat or have a lot of protein, and I eat very small portions. I just don’t eat when i’m not hungry and I think the texture of meat is raunnch. btw, I’m 17, 5′ 5", and 109 lbs. How to you suggest I alter my diet?

I’m reading this news headline about the teen with cancer opting out of chemotherapy…

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060816/ap_on_re_us/sick_teen

And I’m not sure what the original issue is. Per the article, "After Abraham chose to go on the sugar-free, organic diet and take liquid herbal supplements under the supervision of a Mexican clinic, a social worker asked a juvenile court judge to intervene to protect the teen’s health."

So basically, if someone wants to pursue an alternate means of medical treatment for their child, other than something established by the medical community, this is grounds for a social worker to intervene, when this involves a minor? Is that what the original issue is, or is it more involved than that?

i am going on a juice fast for 3 days (you eat nothing and drink only organic juices, water and green tea). then i will consume no more than 500 calories a day, on a diet that consists mostly of grapefruit, sugar-free fat free yogurt, diet bread, salad, soup, power bars, coffee, diet soda, boca burgers, cottage cheese, soy milk and a few other thing. i will do this until i reach my goal weight of 95 lbs.

i exercise regularly, usually spending about an hour or two a day on my stationary bike. i also walk and lift 5 lb weights every other day. i try to jog once a week.

how fast do you think i will lose weight?

i am a 16 year old female, 5’4 1/2" and about 110-115 lbs. please no lectures or criticism. i have been 95 lbs at this height before and i loved it, i just want to know how fast i will lose the weight on this diet.
