I started a new diet today and later I’m heading to the grocery store to buy a few things. One of the foods I’m starting to eat is tuna. I can’t stand fish, but tuna is alright. I was curious if the bagged tuna is better then the canned (health-wise). I like the bagged better but I’m really going to try to start eating better.
Thanks :)

& What are a few organic brands that aren’t as expensive?

I’m on the EXTREMELY low income scale, & I find that unhealthy foods are cheaper & more readily available than healthy foods, & organic healthy foods are eve MORE expensive. I’d like to change my diet & eat right because my life is on the line. My health is at risk.I seriously find myself living off of HotPockets, corn dogs, & cereal & occasional unhealthy snacks. After paying all my bills, like rent & utilities, I only have like for the month to stretch for food, & that’s not good. I receive SSI & Social Security & I’m disabled, & if I work, I’ll lose my medical benefits & insurance.

If I buy fruits & veggies alone, that would come up to like , & I just found out I’m anemic & my iron is low, so I was told I have to have meat & food from the breads & cereals group in my diet in order to increase my iron level.

Do you have any advice?

i only eat raw organic fruits & veges, ocassionally i’ll have some eggs / fish for protein (3-4 times a week). i also have wheat biscuits in the morning with milk sometimes. i dont eat anything else at all (bread, pasta, rice, chicken, meat or any kind of junk food). i usually have about 1400 calories a day (not on a diet but thats how it works out). i have 2 "meals" and little snacks in between and i dont eat after 8 pm. i drink 10 glasses of water a day. ive been doing this for a month. question is should i make this diet a lifestyle change for me? is it healthy to do this longterm?
i’m 22..about 5’2 & 110 lbs if that helps

I don’t mean healthy like vegan/organic/trying to lose weight diet, I just mean, do I eat reasonable and fairly well-balanced?

Today I had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on 7 grain wheat toast and a cup of applesauce for breakfast, then for a snack I had one Nutty bar, for lunch I had a third of a steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli, and then I just had 2 small chocolate chip cookies and a glass of 1% milk for snack. For dinner I’m just going to have a small bowl of granola cereal and probably some cheese & crackers.

Am I eating ok?

I plan to eat like this (generally) from now on.
Today, I ate –
Breakfast – oatmeal w/ 1% milk & some honey for flavor
Snack- apple chunks w/ peanut butter
Lunch – half of a turkey & cheese sandwich (whole wheat bread) w/ a few carrots & a few peach slices
Snacks – organic yogurt
Dinner – 1 egg w/ a little picante in a whole wheat tortilla & orange juice
I also ate 5 nutter butters for my junk food cravings. I’m trying really hard to stop splurging with junk food. I know the nuttter butters were a bad decision, but is the rest good? any suggestions? i looked up what i ate including nutter butter on my pyramid tracker (mypyramidtracker.gov) and it said i ate about 1300 calories.
Am i eating too much? too less? bad? good?
any comments are welcome
