Someone said organic food was a trend, How is that possible when people have eaten organic since the dawn of ?

time and have only started eating non organic food withen the last few hundred years?
Africa is nowhere near as fertile as the Americas and Europe but that’s completely off topic lol.

The "trend" is that organic food is superior to processed, sterilized or treated fruits, veggies and meats (a more recent phenomenon). This is probably true but I think people go to gung ho with the concept and drive their food bills through the roof. if one can afford it, I suppose it is the way to go but.. compared to the American diet of fast food, processed sugars and flours and junk food, even eating a vegetable sprayed with fertilizer or eating a lean meat grown at a farm is far superior.

Well, there are more people living on this Earth, today, than the sum total of all people who have EVER lived before us. As companies like Heinz say, "How else are you going to feed 325 million people" (that’s Americans, BTW). The problem with organic is that it is inefficient, therefore more costly. Don’t get me wrong, that’s mostly what we buy, but the Third World cannot afford to grow only in inefficient manners. That’s part of the starvation equation in Africa – low yield per acre.
