My Mom buys pretty much everything organic, like 90% of our food is, and then the other 10% is regular things that are really hard to find organic. Here is the meal I would have and it varies:
Breakfeast: Oatmeal with cinnamon or chocolate chips (organic)
Fruit (rasberry, strawberry,apple, or mango)
Organic Chocolate Milk, Lowfat, 1% milkfat
Lunch: (for school this is pretty much what I have everyday)
Ham sandwich (lettuce, cheese, honey mustard)
Cape Cod Potato Chips 40% reduced fat
Clif Kid Organic Fruit Twist.
Dinner: Steak, green beans (example)
Sometimes I have a hamburger or hotdog, usually once a month
Sheperd’s pie (that was for dinner last night)
Is there any dieting or fixing to do in my diet
Usually I do a half an hour to an hour of exercise a day and usually a few hours of playing outside.
I’m freaked cause I think I’m fat but for my age I’m at a good weight but I still think I’m fat. My Mom thinks I’m showing signs of anorexia.
I lied I have fruits and vegetables :) Usually fruits for snack and vegetables for dinner or lunch.
Hi all,
I like to choose natural and organic foods for both moral and health reasons…plus I just think they taste better. I love Whole Foods so much, but even when I shop sales and utilize their coupons, I find I am spending too much money! I tried Trader Joes and I love the atmosphere and definitely found a few staples (great tea and waffles!), but I am sorry to say alot of their produce and meats went bad immediately or just didn’t taste right.
I am very budget conscious being a Graduate Student of engineering so it’s hard for me to stick to a natural foods diet. To make it harder, my husband does body building part time in addition to his regular job as a dietician…and he not only eats a TON but he is also a total carnivore sometimes! I like meat, but I find it so expensive to buy without it being pumped full of antibiotics and totally abused while it was alive, so if I had my way I wouldn’t buy nearly as much of it as we do.
We are basically looking for ways to buy things like cage-free eggs, organic product, non antibiotic pumped and abused animal products, bread, organic wine, anything like this on a budget? Any ideas out there? I live in the Boston area if that helps.
All serious insight welcome and 10 pts to the best answer. If you don’t like my life style choices then please don’t comment because I have no intention of joining the fast food band wagon.
Thanks!!
We live in a city apartment and have no yard. Also, farmer markets are a good idea thanks, but in New England we tend to not have any as winter approaches.
I’m going on a diet plan which consists of 1000 calories per day. I will be eating Organic fruits and veggies and Organic protein from lein meats and nuts. I will be drinking 8+glasses of water per day and I will also be taking a multi vitamin and a b12 shot once per week for energy. I also have a great workout plan. Should I encorporate a Protein powdered drink for extra protein for working out? If so, should I include this in my 1000 calorie diet or outside of the 1000 calorie limit.
Thanks :)
