How does this sounds?
I’ve been feeling kind of bloated lately, so I was reading up on detox diets and came across one that spoke of eating only fruits and vegetables for three days.
Would it be alright and beneficial to my health if I were to eat fruits and vegetables (and drink plenty of water, of course) for 3 days?
for example, i would have a banana or organic apple sauce for breakfast, a cup of fruit salad (watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, strawberries) for lunch, and maybe 2-3 cups of carrots and broccoli OR stir-fry tofu with peppers and such for dinner. I also would take my multi, b-12, biotin, and omega-3 vitamins and drink at least 8 cups of water a day (I usually drink more then that).
Also, I’ve been a vegetarian for 2 years and I recently made the switch to being on a vegan diet. I’m 15 and I weigh 123 while being 5’4
it’s just a detox; it’ll last for 2 1/2 to 3 days
this detox isn’t far from my everyday diet. i normally eat this plus pastas, oatmeal, lentils, black beans, and rice
recent is less then a month
my mom and I use organic substitutes for those oils and such. and my vitamins are organic, i’m pretty sure. my mom makes me take them anyway though,
I am a 28 year old women trying to loose around 40 lbs. I have started on a 1200 calorie/day diet plan. My intake has the following:
Fat: 17.0% (23 gms)
Protein: 22.2% (67 gms)
Carbs: 60.8% (184 gms)
Fibre: 33 gms.
I am not eating any meat or eggs as I am also trying to cut down on my cholestrol. The main staples of my intake are a load of veggies, 2 cups of fatfree skim milk, 1 cup of Tropicana Light and Healthy with extra Calcium and low sugar, 1 cup of fat free plain yoghurt, mung bean sprouts,1/2 cup of boiled lentils, 1/2 cup of cooked medium grained brown rice, 3 oz of Organic Tofu, 2 tsp of Canola oil, 1 packet of Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal with hot water and 6" veggie delite sub on wheat bread (from Subway).
I know this all this sounds like a lot of food, but when I add everything up, it is a little less than 1200 calories. I am not sure about whether my intake of fat, protein and carbs is high. I would appreciate any advice/suggestions from anyone.
Celebrities like Beyonce Knowles have credited the diet for their rapid weight loss. she used it to lose 20 pounds in 10 days during the filming of Dreamgirls.
I wonder.. if anything, is this good? and does it really work? have anyone other than her tried it yet??
two tablespoons lemon or lime juice, preferably fresh-squeezed from organic citrus (about half a lemon or lime) two tablespoons genuine Grade B maple syrup (not maple flavored syrup)
a pinch of cayenne pepper or to taste
eight ounces of water (many people recommend purified or filtered water) cold or at room temperature.
Mix all of the ingredients and drink.
Burroughs recommends drinking between six to 12 glasses daily during the course of the cleanse. No food should be consumed, just drink whenever you are hungry.
This is just one typical day, I usually eat similar to this day everyday.
Breakfast: Whole wheat toast and two scrambled egg whites.
Lunch: 12 small honey-wheat pretzels dipped in 1 tbsp. organic peanut butter, strawberries and banana salad, small cheese circle. All washed down by 100% pure apple juice…no added sugar.
Snack: Popchips (Like potato chips, except they are cooked by popping and not baking or frying. Also no harmful oils.)
Dinner: Macaroni and cheese, fruit salad.
I know I should fit more veggies into my diet. When I was a little kid though, I ate really bad stuff, like Cheetos, and I didn’t like milk. That’s probably why I’m short…now I’m 13. Does this sound like a healthy diet for a teen?
Sorry it’s in the wrong catergory, but since I’m a girl (will be a woman one day), and this has to with health, then it’s not too out of range! Plus no one answers in diet and fitness.
So I feel a bit strange for making this public, but I really do believe there are intelligent nutritionists or healthy folk on yahoo answers that can help me out. I DO have a therapist and I WILL work this out with her when I see her in two days, however I do not believe she knows much about nutrition and I am anxious to start this new healthy diet plan I have conjured up.
Here it goes. I have used crash diets of as little as 100 calories a day to drop weight. I went down to 110 lbs through starvation (7 months before this I had weighed 135). After a week of starvation I would binge and purge myself, maintaining 116 for quite sometime. However, I have given up on purging and starvation and now eat very unhealthy food in large quantities, very often. I eat when bothered or bored, I also eat when depressed or when I feel like hurting my body (I know sounds VERY bad). I have gone through a serious emotional roller coaster with food and I sit here now almost hopeless. My self esteem really is at the floor and I just want to be healthy now. 115-120 lbs is a weight I would like to maintain. My body frame is very small and this weight would be fine.
MY NEW PLAN:
I am eating 1000-1200 calories a day and exercising 1 hour+ 5-6 times a week. Exercise consists of swimming, running, yoga, cycling, weight training. I am 5’5", 17 years old and weigh 125. My goal weight is 115. Maybe after 2/3 weeks of this diet modification I will allow myself to eat sweets on weekends. I eat everything whole grain and organic, I do not eat chicken, meat or cheese. Until I reach my goal weight of 115-120 I will not eat nuts. Is this healthy?
After I drop the weight I will start intaking 1000-1400 daily plus workout to maintain, I hope this sounds correct and healthy.
Any advice on my plan for a healthier me would be fabulous! Thanks so much!!! ;)
Oh and I wouldnt purge all the time which is why I maintained 116 lbs and was not thinner.
