okay so for diet, i’m thinking one day a week of a liquid detox diet where i only drink freshly juiced fruits and veggies (carrot/apple juice, grapefruit/orange/lemon juice, etc) and i’ll have 1 serving of an organic protein shake made with soymilk. then for the other 6 days, i’ll follow the South Beach Diet Phase 1 (cut out all carbs, have only protein and veggies). and i’ll drink a whole bunch of water and take a multivitamin each day.
for exercise, i’ll do a warm-up of about 10 minutes of jogging and 5 minutes of stretching. then i’ll do a 20-minute workout on the "lateral thigh trainer" machine, which is basically a stair master, 15 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes doing weight training and toning exercises (using both a bowflex machine and free weights, and doing things with no weights like push ups and crunches). and then a cool down of a 10 minute 4.5mph uphill walk on treadmill and then some more stretching.

how much weight will i lose if i stick to this diet and exercise plan? how long will it take me to lose 20-25 pounds? how can i make the weight come off faster?

if it helps, right now i’m 17 years old, 5’2” and 145 pounds. i’d like to get down to around 115-120 pounds as soon as possible.

i am 16 years old, female, 5’5" 107 lbs
i want to maintain a thin, toned physique.

exercise:
-turbo jam (cardio work out dvd) for at least 1 hour
-walking/jogging
-bike riding (a couple times a week)

diet:
breakfast-chocolate chip waffle (no syrup) OR cereal (no milk)
lunch-peanut butter sandwich (on organic bread) OR vegan wrap OR a bagel with light cream cheese
snack-fruit OR granola bar OR fruit snacks
dinner-low fat, high-protein vegan meal (for example: boca burger w/ salad & light dressing)

of course i change up my diet but it is basically the same kinds of foods. i don’t drink soda or eat fast food. i avoid dairy because it makes my stomach hurt. my occasional indulgences are dark chocolate, pop tarts, muffins and cookies.
turbo jam supposedly burns 700-1000 calories an hour.

so what do you think? does this sound healthy?

I’m not really looking to ”lose weight” – just get into shape/take off a tiny bit of fat I’ve gained. I used to be really active because I lived in a small town and rode my bike everywhere I needed to get (school, the library, friends’ houses). Since my family moved into a more rural area 3 years ago and couldn’t take my bike, all I’ve been doing for the past 2 years is sitting around, shoving junk food in my mouth.

I hardly ever eat junk food or soda at all anymore – I drink a lot of water. My diet now consists of lunch meat turkey & ham sandwiches, chocolate milk, ramen noodles and water. I’m not saying that’s all I eat: it’s just my meal on a regular basis.

What i want to know is if I keep up this diet, and do a few walking laps around my neighborhood everyday (we moved within the past year again) if I’ll be able to get my skinny calves/flat stomach back?

Is the chocolate milk going to put a big dent in my effort/progress?
What other steps could I take?

(P.S. my family is set in their ways to eat junk food, so don’t tell me to try to convince them to buy organic foods etc. because i’m pretty much on my own here, guys.)
Okay – cut out ramen noodles.
More fruits and vegetables? What’s a recommended diet for that? (apples for breakfast? so and so for lunch, etc.) ?

I’ve been feeling kind of bloated lately, so I was reading up on detox diets and came across one that spoke of eating only fruits and vegetables for three days.

Would it be alright and beneficial to my health if I were to eat fruits and vegetables (and drink plenty of water, of course) for 3 days?

for example, i would have a banana or organic apple sauce for breakfast, a cup of fruit salad (watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, strawberries) for lunch, and maybe 2-3 cups of carrots and broccoli OR stir-fry tofu with peppers and such for dinner. I also would take my multi, b-12, biotin, and omega-3 vitamins and drink at least 8 cups of water a day (I usually drink more then that).

Also, I’ve been a vegetarian for 2 years and I recently made the switch to being on a vegan diet. I’m 15 and I weigh 123 while being 5’4
it’s just a detox; it’ll last for 2 1/2 to 3 days
this detox isn’t far from my everyday diet. i normally eat this plus pastas, oatmeal, lentils, black beans, and rice

recent is less then a month
my mom and I use organic substitutes for those oils and such. and my vitamins are organic, i’m pretty sure. my mom makes me take them anyway though,
