Digest is the most complete enzymes I have found over the past ten years. I have gastroparesis and gastritis, which does not allow my stomach to empty for days after a meal. Also, I have extremely poor digestion and absorption.
I have severe allergies to suggested prescription efforts. I have been septic, and hospitalized many times over the past 20 years. Digest is the first solution I have ever found, after trying product after product. I used to be lucky if I had a bowel movement once a week. My medical condition has kept me disable for years. The next prescribed medical therapy was a feeding tube. Now after using Digest, I am able to have a bowel movement after every meal. I have to take Digest for every meal and snack or my symptoms come back in a day.
It took about three days to get into my system and begin to work on a regular basis. My doctor has approved this regimen and he is happy we do not have to go the feeding tube route. Ask your doctor. Also I am very anemic and I have to eat extra red meat (protein), so I have added Bromelain and Papain enzymes as well.

Here is a product that truly benefits persons with many years of use and, possibly, some abuse on their digestive systems. In my estimation, it is helping me by reducing the number of arguements I have with with my digestive system re what I can eat.

I have IBS-C and suffered everyday for years. At 26 I had already had 2 endoscopys and a colonoscopy, I was on Zelnorm and it was OK then they took it off the market and I was devastated. I ended up trying Digest and what a difference!!! I am 'normal', after years of going to the dr and being in pain all day everyday, this great little supplement saved me! I have taken the gold and i don't respond to that as well. This seems to be the perfect combo of enzymes. I don't know how I would cope with out this awesome product. I also have a friend who takes this (who doesn't have IBS) and she loves it as well. I take one with every meal and if I know I am going to eat a lot I take two. You will not be sorry you tried this, it does take a few days to make the full difference but gosh I can't live without it!!! I hope this helped!

I have both Digest and Digest Gold. I usually use Digest when I start a meal and Digest Gold afterwards if the meal goes down too slowly. Digest is good for foods with latose, but I still need to use separate latase enzyme for dairy foods. There were times when my bowels were irritable (IBS-D) and taking Digest Gold caused more problems (made it more irritable), but Digest works much better in those cases (no problems yet). Price-wise these days, I still think Digest Gold is better value if they don't cause any problems for you. Enzymes are necessary if you can't digest foods without experiencing digestive pains, discomforts, loose stools, gas, etc.

The actual problem with digestion can go much deeper than you think. It can be a problem with your diet being too acidic in nature and I don't mean eating acidic foods. Staples like meats, beans and grains, starches and sugar, can cause your urine to be very acidic. Do some research regarding regarding acidic urine and you will get the full details. Taking probiotics (eg. New Chapter All Flora) can also solve many digestive issues - it did for me. Anyway, after making changes to my diet (more alkaline), taking enzymes, calcium supplement, and probiotics solve my IBS-D problems for now. Hope that lasts indefinitely though. :)
